The Generation to Generation Society of the Jewish Community Center of the Greater St. Paul Area recognizes and acknowledges two important types of donors:
Establishing a named endowment fund is easy
Some people make a cash donation to create a named endowment fund. Others transfer appreciated securities to establish such an endowment fund. If necessary, payment can be made over an agreed upon period of time. Endowment funds have been established to honor a special birthday, anniversary, or to memorialize a loved one.
A plaque with the fund's name will be placed on the wall display near the east entrance of the building.
Endowment funds are forever and they will support the program of your choice
The endowment funds are professionally managed to assure the highest rate of return. Endowment donors receive an annual report detailing the use of their fund and the current appreciated value of the fund. Some funds that were established for relatively modest amounts of money are valued now at over $50,000! A general endowment fund offers the Center the maximum flexibility to utilize funds in needed areas of greatest need as determined by the endowment committee and the Board. However, your fund may be created to support senior adult programming, child care scholarships, cultural arts activities, or any program of your choice.
Deferred gift is a term used to describe the type of gift that will be given in the future
The most common type of deferred gift (and the easiest!) is an estate gift. People who tell us that we are in their will, and sign a Letter of Intent formally letting us know of their plans, become members of the Generation to Generation Society. A plaque with their name is installed on the Generation to Generation wall. There are other types of deferred gifts, too. We have a booklet that describes some of the other deferred gift opportunities. You should also talk to your accountant or other advisor about deferred giving and its tax advantages.
You may contribute to any named endowment fund or the general endowment at any time.
If you have information about the history of a particular endowment, please complete our Endowment History Project form.
