Teen Director

The Teen department announced its new teen director in the month of November. Sam Eberhart brings a wide range of experience to his position. He is a past Camp Butwin staff person, working for three summers as a senior counselor, the outdoor adventure specialist and leading the ESA Extreme Summer Adventure in its inaugural summer.

Sam graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a BA in history. He has worked as a research consultant at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where he facilitated training courses on atrocities prevention for employees of various government agencies and co-authored a Rwanda lessons-learned study for use as an atrocities prevention manual (which connected with his honors thesis that researched US foreign policy in Central Africa leading up to the Rwandan genocide.) He's studied and worked abroad in Kenya and Brazil. We welcome Sam to the St. Paul JCC Teen department and community.

The teen department offers year-round opportunities for our participants that promote healthy self esteem, involvement and commitment to the community as they develop into young adults, with the teen lounge serving as the base for:

  • Hunger Haven: Gain work and leadership experience. Learn about Jewish ways to deal with money and earn some while you're at it working at the teen-run snack bar during the JCC basketball and theater season.
  • Program for the Performing Arts: The St. Paul JCC Program for the Performing Arts offers opportunities for teens to expand their creative powers, learn new skills and enhance their self-esteem.
  • Counselor in Training (CIT)/Madrich Program information.
  • Teen Council: Teh Teen Council is an opportunity for St. Paul JCC teens to become stakeholders in teen programming. This is a venue for teens to express ideas and interest, while also participating in their own planned events or programs.
  • Teen Events: From bowling to band night, sledding to laser tag, you're bound to have fun at one of our many teen activities!
