2009-2010 Friends of the Symphony Campaign
Every year hundreds of people enjoy three free concerts offered by the St. Paul JCC Symphony Orchestra. This outstanding group of dedicated musicians is one of the oldest continuously operating community orchestras in the nation, and we could not be more proud of their fine work! In order to continue our tradition of free classical music for all, we ask you to consider contributing $36.00 or more to help us offset the cost of maintaining our symphony.
To our committed, non-professional players, the St. Paul JCC Symphony represents a unique opportunity to fulfill their passion for music. Our conductor chooses a wide range of challenging compositions, and guides the group to achieve their fullest potential - all in a fun, social environment. The ensemble provides a social and cultural opportunity for its own members as well as the broader community who benefit from their efforts in three wonderfully prepared concerts each arts season.
We hope you will support the JCC Orchestra as it brings a renewal of spirit to its players and audiences alike. Tax deductable donations may be mailed to the St. Paul JCC c/o Jeffrey Richman, Jewish Cultural Arts Director or given at the front desk. Friends of the Symphony contributors will be honored at the Spring concert, May, 26, 2010.
Welcome to our new conductor,
Marina Liadova
This season we are thrilled to announce our new conductor, Marina Liadova. Marina Liadova grew up in Moscow, Russia. She attended Gnessin Music Academy, where she also taught for 10 years, starting at the young age of 18. While in Moscow, she pioneered a youth opera troupe, where she created and produced many original shows and commissioned several new operas, including "King Matiush" by Lev Konov.
Marina moved to the Twin Cities in 1990. She has worked as a music teacher in various schools and was the conductor of the Brimhall International Choir, comprised of singers from 35 countries. As the Music Director, she collaborated with several theaters, including Park Square Theater, Lakeshore Players and Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company.
Marina's orchestral studies led her to the esteemed maestro and conducting coach Alexander Vitlin. Studying with Vitlin inspired her to create a new company, Lidia Productions, which offers concerts with a strong focus on Twin Cities' musicians.
Marina is very excited and grateful to be able to lead the St. Paul JCC Symphony.
We are so pleased to welcome her to the podium as conductor of the JCC Symphony!
