Alisa Warshavsky will bring an Israeli flavor to the entire St. Paul Jewish community for the coming year as our Shlichah (Israeli emissary), sponsored by the United Jewish Fund and Council. She will work directly with UJFC's beneficiary agencies: The St. Paul JCC, Talmud Torah of St. Paul, JCRC and Hillel at the University of Minnesota.

Alisa is from Rishon L'Tzion in Israel. She recently finished her service with the Israeli Defense Force, working as an education officer in the IDF Officer's Training School. She was an assistant operations manager at the Zapari Zoo which is a bird zoo and has volunteered with Magen David Adom (Israeli Red Cross) and "Latet" an Israeli humanitarian aid organization that provides assistance to the needy.

The Shaliach program was created to strengthen to bridge between our local programming and Israeli and Jewish culture and ways. It is funded by contributions from the Jewish Agency for Israel's (JAFI) Partnership 2000 program, which receives funding through the UJFC, and a grant by the UJFC's Endowment Grants Committee, as well as through monetary and in-kind donations from St. Paul agencies and other private donors.
