Minnesota JCC

Better Together ST PAUL WEB HERO[1]

Twin Cities JCC with Multiple Campuses

For the past four years, the St. Paul JCC and Sabes JCCs have been working together to create a vision and path for the future, building upon our shared Jewish values and cultures, and emphasizing serving others, inclusivity, community, mutual respect, excellence, and innovation.

The JCC Steering Committee, co-chaired by the board presidents and comprised of leaders from both the Minneapolis and St. Paul communities, have spent the past several years doing an in-depth study of the two JCCs. They have worked to intimately understand the important legacies of each JCC, including the wonderful foundation that the JCCs are built upon. This shared understanding is essential for creating a positive pathway forward for growth and sustainability – to reach more people, provide more programming and services, and to build upon what the JCCs do best. Their unanimous conclusion is that when our two JCCs work together we are successful and, a MINNESOTA JCC with two campuses provides greater opportunities and resources for programming and people. The Boards of Directors of both JCCs agree.

As Covid-19 has reshaped our community and our work, one might ask whether this is an optimal time to move forward with such a bold initiative. The answer is a resounding, yes. As our two JCCs have adapted to the pandemic, we began to work as one – sharing resources and ideas – allowing us to be innovative and inclusive and to serve our community in ways both big and small. Over the past six months, we have experienced first-hand, the power of collaboration and that – when we come together, we are better.

As we shared last night at the St. Paul JCC’s Annual Meeting, the combined JCC will include two independent non-profit organizations. The MINNESOTA JCC will house all of the JCC programs, services, staff and fundraising efforts and operate programming at both Centers and throughout the Twin Cities. The MINNESOTA JCC FOUNDATION will manage the endowment funds and valuable real estate assets with the sole purpose of supporting the JCC.

Over the coming months, we will continue the important work needed to create a smooth transition to one organization.

A nominating committee has been hard at work developing the slate of Board Members and Officers for the MINNESOTA JCC and the MINNESOTA JCC FOUNDATION. We are excited and proud of the leaders who have accepted the nomination. CLICK HERE to see the slate.

We want to express our sincere gratitude for the leadership of the St. Paul JCC Board of Directors and the Sabes JCC Board of Directors who will continue in their current capacity until the combination is complete. The planned date for the official combination is January 1, 2021, subject to final approval by both Boards. We also want to recognize the JCCs Steering Committee for their dedication and commitment over the last 18 months. Thank you to the exceptional staff of both JCCs, whose passion and creativity bring our mission to life through good times and challenging times.

Thank you to Minneapolis and St. Paul Jewish Federations and all our community partners for their support of this exciting moment for our community.

And finally, thank YOU, for allowing us the privilege to serve you and to play a role in your lives each day.
