Private Swimming Lessons

There has never been a better time to learn to swim! Starting September 8, the St. Paul JCC will be offering private swimming lessons to get you or your child swimming at the desired level. 

Please check out our amended protocols and procedures that will allow you to get back in the water while staying safe. It is always our goal to create a healthy environment for our members and staff. Let’s get ready to jump in!

PLEASE HELP US KEEP YOU HEALTHY AND SAFE:

  • Arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your scheduled time. 
  • Enter pool area by Aquatics Lounge
  • Wait in the lobby on spots until your instructor calls you in
  • Come Dressed to Swim; if this is not possible, please change in the All-Gender bathroom in the aquatics lobby; if this is unavailable, proceed through pool deck to access the All-Gender Locker Room to change and get ready to swim.  Please return to the aquatics lobby and wait for your instructor
  • After participant is done swimming, use All-Gender Locker Room to change, return through pool deck and exit building via the aquatics lounge

PROTOCOLS:

  • Maintain 6’ of physical distancing
  • Bring your own towel
  • Bring your own goggles and a water bottle if desired
  • Leave immediately after class
  • A single parent or guardian may accompany one student, and up to three students in the same family
  • Swim Instructor will wear face shield while in the water.
  • Parent/Guardian must wear a mask to the pool’s edge; face masks can be hung on wall hooks
  • Swimmers must wear their mask to the pool’s edge; face masks can be hung on wall hooks
  • Lessons will be planned with 10-15 minutes in between to allow transition time between participants and for disinfection
  • At this time, lessons are for members only

DISINFECTION

  • Between lessons, instructors will disinfect high touch surfaces in alignment with the disinfection best practices used in Aquatics Center including railings, handles, towel hooks, and benches

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Parent/Child, Minnow, Tadpole, Sea Turtle, Seal
    • Parent/Guardian will be in the water with child for hands on demonstrations
    • Instructor will be in the water demonstrating while maintaining 6’ of social distancing
    • No additional spectators will be allowed in the facility or the deck
  • Stingray and Beginning Teen
    • Parent/Guardian will be in the water with child and will do all hands on instruction
    • Instructor will be in the water demonstrating while maintaining 6’ of social distancing
    • No additional spectators will be allowed in the facility or the deck
  • Otter, Dolphin, Stroke Development, Adult Beginner and Adult Intermediate
    • Parent/Guardian will be spaced out on the deck
    • Instructor will be either on deck or in the water, depending on the need for instruction.  While on the deck, instructor will wear their mask
    • No additional spectators on the deck or the facility – only 1 per child
    • The instructor will follow appropriate social distancing requirements and will teach from the deck or in the water
